is the Executive Director and Founder of COAST. He has conducted groundbreaking research on nutrients in coral reefs and pioneered nitrogen studies involving algal blooms. His studies have been published in more than 90 scientific papers and journals. He has also advised the EPA, NOAA and numerous foreign governments on the development of water-quality monitoring programs.
is the Board Chairman and co-founder of COAST. Specializing in environmental, energy, and administrative law, he also serves as General Counsel along with managing COAST’s outreach and education programs.
is COAST’s Director of Development. Previously, he served as the president of the Friends of Guana-Tolomata-Matanzas National Estuarine Research Reserve along with sitting on the board for Florida SeaGrant.
sits on the Board for COAST. He is also the Chief Executive Officer of The Woolton Group LLC, an international advisory group with offices in Florida and London. He is working on advisory projects that include renewable energy, clean technology, and immersive reality technology.
Dr. Tewflik is a marine scientist trained and experienced in both tropical fisheries (M.S.) and marine ecology (Ph.D.). His investigations focus on the impacts of overfishing, physical disturbance, and pollution on population, trophic and community structure as well as ecological function in seagrass beds, sandy beaches and coral reefs throughout the Caribbean as well as in SE Asia and the Pacific. His studies have been published in a number of journals, conference proceedings and reports including 25 peer-reviewed papers in journals such as Ecology, Aquatic Conservation, Marine Pollution Bulletin, Fisheries Research, Marine Ecology Progress Series and Restoration Ecology.
